Back with a Vengeance

Hi Everyone, I must first apologise for my absence from the blog as i had my GCSE's to concentrate on and plus nothing really came up regarding the blog. But fear not! I have made two more advances since the last post! Now as you know it's been over a year since i purchased, like many others, the 50th Anniversary Duffer Tie. I had however bought the slim version, which to be honest i was never happy with as i felt it didn't look right with the suit. So i decided to try and buy the wider version. 

This worried me as i assumed because it had been so long since i bought the tie that Debenhams must have stopped selling them by now, plus last time i went they only had the slim tie. So during the summer i made the hike to my local Debenhams and pounced on the tie shelf, but to my disappointment there were no Duffer ties. But as i was turning away, something caught my eye. Right at the back behind a group of Thomas Nash ties was a wide version of the Duffer tie! I nabbed it before i even thought about it and with a grin on my face bounced over to the till. Anyway, enough anecdotes - Here it is!

I was delighted to finally have the wide version, and spent longer than i should have just looking at it. But like buses, two had to come along at once - and as if two Tennant Ties wasn't spectacular enough, it was a second Duffer! Now you all know which tie i must be referring to as there were only two Duffer ties worn by David Tennant. I also don't need to go into detail about how i obtained it as we all know it was through the miracle that is eBay! I will however tell you that i got it for the price (which is relatively cheap for an original Tennant Tie if you ask me) of £63 with free shipping! I'm rambling, so here are the pics.

And here are the two glorious Duffer's together at last - I am ecstatic that i now own two original Tennant Ties! But nevertheless, we must move on. I am hoping to make some big changes in the very near future which include replacing my shirts with accurate Tennant shirts rather than my school ones, buying the rest of the Magnoli Brown Suit Ties. But most important of all - upgrading my suit to the Magnoli custom cotton Tennant Suit! Stay tuned folks - this is going to be epic!

Pre Edit Tie

Incase i haven't said so before, the dutti tie is my favourite out of all the Tennant ties. I know it consists of simple stripes but there's something about it that makes it more appealing and exiting to me than even the Lacroix tie. Perhaps because it's so bold? Anyway, since this tie is near impossible to find on eBay, i first decided to use the simple design on a custom tie website. A few months later i found the Paul Smith striped tie that looked similar to the Dutti, but i was never fully satisfied with it as the stripes weren't wide enough and the space in between them was too narrow. So recently i thought of a new idea, I bought a tie with all light blue stripes and used a navy blue fabric pen to colour in every other stripe. And what can i say? I think this tie is better than ever before, and i've reached the highest point with this tie. The only one better would be an original Dutti! Enough chit chat, here are the results...

The Year is 2013, Time for the 13th Tie...

I'm Sure many of you will of heard about David Tennant returning to Doctor Who in the highly anticipated '50th Anniversary Special'. Now if finding out that my favourite doctor wasn't brilliant enough, we even know what tie he'll be wearing, 6 months in advance!!! This means that i could whip down to my local branch of Debenhams and grab one! I can't believe that we'd figure out which tie it was so quickly and it's amazing that i got an original Tennant Tie as easily as that! And again, if finding it wasn't easy enough, it only cost £14! That's less than half the price of a Magnoli Replica Tie!

I'm still in shock really, i only found out what make the tie was yesterday and before i knew it I was in the Mens Tie Department fishing behind racks of ties!

Sorry for the long wait, i haven't had the time to post anything in a while, but here i go!..

Since i last posted about the Massimo Dutti-like tie, i ordered a Celestial Toystore 11th Hour Sonic Screwdriver Replica, and i have to say, it is tremendous!!! It is smaller than i expected, but not in a bad way, as it actually feels like the real prop, as opposed to and oversized kids toy. But here's me babbling on, you wanna see the pictures right?! And i know a certain doctor-lookalike who wants to see them the most! Well here you go...

As you can see, in my hand it is quite small. I'd say it's closer to the size of the sonic torch than the Character Options Toy version; which seems gigantic when compared to what is the closest thing to what Matt Smith actually used in the 11th hour.

At the moment the batteries in mine are running out and the light and sound is struggling to work, so you have to tap the side to get it to work, but i like it like that cause it's like it was in the 11th Hour: when it wouldn't work properly and Matt Smith had to tap it to get it to work! It might sound weird, but then again so is the Doctor!

Unexpected Treat...

 Today I was looking on ebay at tennant tie brands just to see if anything exciting came up. Only minutes before i was thinking about how the 'Next Doctor' tie was so simple, but so hard to find a similar design. Anyway on ebay i looked up Massimo Dutti ties and then Paul Smith Ties (Because pumpkiny owns a similar tie made by Paul Smith) When to my surprise, an almost identical tie came up, i bagged it straight away.

As you can seee, it is a near perfect design. And just to add to the 'Fantastic-ness' of it all, it cost me all together... (Drum roll please!)...

£70.00 including shipping from America!!!

I know it's a little expensive, but considering the price of Tennant ties these days, i was more than happy!!!

A Laser Spanner in the Works!

The other day I was sorting out some dvd's when i came across my Doctor Who Series 4 box set.

As i'm now mad at checking which tie he is wearing in every episode, i thought why not see which tie he's wearing on the dvd cover. I had already noticed that it was the brown suit, but what's this I thought. To me it looks like the Kenzo burgundy/blue tie only ever worn with the blue suit

Now it's hard to see at this size and if i made i any larger it would be too pixelated to know. So tell me what you think and look at your own dvd box set for a better view.

Gallifrey Sale!

I just noticed on the Magnoli website that a brown Tennant suit is going cheap in the overstock section.

I was considering buying it but i'm more than happy with the Baron Boutique suit i have at the moment, so if anyone is looking for an accurate Tennant brown suit, you don't usually get them this cheap from Magnoli! 

Also, the Tennant blue suit is going for the same price!

Going Tieless

Yes, it's what it says in the title. I bought a couple of T-Shirts that were perfect with my navy shirt. They cost about £2.00 each from Amazon.co.uk. So here they are...

This, as you can see, is a navy blue T-Shirt and a sort of Lilacy-Blue kind of shirt. Sadly, even though it looks stunning, it was only used in one episode; (Midnight)

This is a light graphite T-Shirt with the Lilacy-Blue shirt again. The camera makes the shirt look a tad too light, but in normal daylight, it's a spot on match to the one used in; (End of Time Pt 1)

The Suit, the Ties and the Wardrobe

Hi all, finally got round to taking pictures of my ties with my suit. So here they are...

This is the Magnoli Armani Tie. I think it looks fantastic next to the suit. It has been used with the light blue shirt in the following episodes; (Army of Ghosts, Doomsday, Smith and Jones, The Shakespeare Code, Gridlock, Turn Left, The Stolen Earth, Journeys End)

Again this is the Armani tie but instead with the navy blue shirt. Wearing this just makes me want to say 'It's Volcano day!' This combo was used in; (Love and Monsters, The Family of Blood, Fires of Pompeii, Planet of the Dead)

This is the Christian Lacroix Swirly Tie Replica by Magnoli. I know the knot looks a bit big but it's because you have to tie the tie so short, you end up with this. I still love it though. Used in these episodes; (The Girl in the Fireplace, Love and Monsters, Blink)

This is a replica of the Massimo Dutti Striped Tie. I searched and searched and searched for a look a like but it was impossible to find. So i decided to have a go at making one on ArtsCow.com. It came out perfectly and it was an easy design to copy. I have a spare if anyone would like to buy it. Anyway, it was only used in two episodes, which is a shame because it's one of my favourite ties;.. (Partners in Crime, The Next Doctor) 

Update 27/5/12: I have just bought a more accurate woven version of this tie, awaiting arrival.

And Finally the very well known Tennant Regeneration look. This knot took me ages to work out how to do but I finally got the hang of it. It looks stunning with the light blue shirt, it's a shame they didn't use this much either as they only used it in; (End of Time Pt 2)

The best suit in Gallifrey

Hi guys, this is my first post on my new blog, so i thought i'd start off with the suit i got for Christmas. I bought from the famous Baron Boutique, and i can safely say that when i opened it on Christmas day i was astonished. The bright baby blue stripes hit me straight away and then the deepness of the brown came next...
